Our mission

NOKAMIC develops and commercializes mechanized solutions
for precommercial strip thinning, forest shredding and land clearing.
Nokamic has designed a vehicle that is adapted to the needs
of the forest industry using specifically designed shredders.
Nokamic is recognized for designing innovative forestry equipment
that offers high performance in the rough terrain
that is very often encountered in North America.

Nokamic's History

1998 The Concept
At the request of Donahue's forestry superintendent in Saint-Félicien,
Louis-Philippe Nault begins his research with the purpose of mechanizing forest thinning. The goal: Increase productivity, improve work conditions and overcome the shortage of manpower in this sector. Research begins to find partners for the manufacturing of equipment

The First Partners
Business relations begin with Gemofor, manufacturer of equipment intended for saw mills and planing mills, in order to manufacture the first prototypes of the mulcher.

The Business Plan
Gemofor and the Fonds d'investissement Desjardins support the project.

Financing Enables the Start-up
The first round of financing is complete: Gemofor, Fonds d'investissement Desjardins, the SADC and the Groupe Nokamic are the financial partners that enable the start-up of the research and development work.

The Prototype
The first prototype is created in Gemofor's workshop. It already has what will be the core of the machine: a shredding head measuring less than 2 m wide, a traction on wheels and chains, a closed cabin that is ergonomic and climatized, GPS navigation and the computerized follow-up of the operations. Gemofor's experience in patents proves to be valuable at this stage.

Research and Development Advances
The first trial of Prototype # 1 takes place in October 2000. During these years of experimentation, major mechanical improvements are made. The challenge consists in combining the forestry goals with productivity.

Prototype # 5 is Ready
We are very close to the commercial version this time. We can therefore begin the manufacturing of a product intended for sale.
